Scottish Surnames of Colonial America for Hunter

HUNTER. A surname of occupational origin found in Scotland since the twelfth century. George Hunter was the Surveyor General until his death in Charleston in 1755, and Dr William Hunter (1730-1777) died in Rhode Island.
